Cutting Your Workweek In Half
What would change if you cut your workweek in half?
What tasks would stay?
What tasks would go?
How would you use your time differently?
What would you no longer dedicate your precious energy to?
Regardless of whether you decide to actually cut your workweek in half or not, your answers to these questions will be enlightening.
They'll have you looking at the ways you currently spend each day's energy allotment differently.
Sometimes I'll describe to clients like this: if you were to wake up with 100 units of energy each day (like a fully charged phone at 100%), how would you choose to spend those units?
When you take your answer to that question, and compare it to how you're currently spending your days, you'll see where things are out of alignment — and you'll know where it's time to start making some changes.
Here are some examples of things my clients often cut after doing this kind of energy assessment (& then the inner work to truly drop the habits):
hours spent doing overly involved DIY design work (i.e. time spent on website updates or Canva graphics)
overthinking
overplanning
worrying about client results
stressing out about whether or not you're going to hit your goal
second-guessing decisions you've already made
checking email open rates or social media likes
obsessing over biz analytics in general
doom-scrolling on Instagram and comparing yourself to other people in your industry
refreshing your inbox to see if you have any new inquiries
consuming lots of other people's content
The result of cutting out these time & energy sucks?
Less hours and stress. More momentum and peace of mind.
Today, I encourage you to play with a shorter workweek, and do your own assessment, to see what that process illuminates for you.
From there, you can make any inspired changes that support your business and your sanity.
To joyful productivity,
Megan
