How to Build True Confidence
When you think about becoming the most confident version of yourself, what comes to mind?
I used to picture walking into any situation with full self-assurance, zero nerves, and not an ounce of self-doubt.
While this would be nice, it's not entirely realistic.
What I've come to appreciate over time is that nerves only show up for me when I deeply care about something. From this perspective, feeling nervous isn't a problem. It's simply an indicator that I'm in the game, and playing bigger.
And when it comes to confidence itself, I've learned that it's less about reaching some idealized future point in time.
Instead, I've come to know true confidence as trusting myself to be okay no matter what happens.
It's knowing that I can handle any outcome — and any emotions I may experience as a result of that outcome.
When I operate from this place, so much fear subsides, and I feel powerful.
I know I've got my own back, and with that deep sense of self-trust in place, I feel far more capable of stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing the things that stir up some of those nerves.
After years of practicing this and experiencing what a difference it makes, here's what I recommend:
Let go of aiming for perfection or a total lack of nerves, and instead practice the skill of leaning into those nerves, doing the thing, and then comforting yourself and processing your emotions as needed after the fact.
Build up a bank of evidence to show yourself that you can handle the discomfort.
Not to spoil the ending for you, but you will be okay!
You will survive.
And you will see how strong you really are!
The more you experience this, the more you will believe in your ability to be okay no matter what.
This is where true self-confidence is built.
You got this,
