Today I'm sharing the top 5 misbeliefs I see entrepreneurs face that cause the most distress while running their businesses.
Read on to uncover each myth, as well as the corresponding truths, and reconnect to the joy of your work!
1) MYTH: you should always excel in your area of expertise.
(I.e. if you’re a health coach you should always be perfectly healthy)
TRUTH: you can be an expert in your zone of genius area and a pro at helping others, but you’re still human!
It’s normal to experience your own ups and downs.
2) MYTH: once you have a big launch or sell out a program, you should be able to do that every time.
TRUTH: Of course you become more dialed in with marketing and better at sales over time, but the game is always changing.
Holding yourself to an unrealistic standard of succeeding at everything you try is a recipe for being let down at some point.
Because as long as you’re trying new things (which is part of staying in the game), there will be learning curves at every level. “Fails” are a normal and necessary part of growth.
3) MYTH: Other people are watching (and judging) your every move.
TRUTH: People aren’t watching you that closely — they’re way more concerned about what’s going on in their own lives.
And if someone is watching and judging your every move…they are def not your ideal client anyways!
4) MYTH: It’ll be embarrassing if you fail.
TRUTH: First of all, how are we defining “failing”? Get clear on how you’re measuring this and really question if it’s true.
Second, would anyone besides you even know if you did “fail”? (Prob not!)
And third, the feeling of embarrassment doesn’t come from other people. It comes from what your mind makes the situation mean about you. Which (thankfully) we can coach on and reframe in a way that supports you.
5) MYTH: you’re the only one feeling this way.
TRUTH: In a world of social media highlight reels, it can feel like you’re the only one who’s struggling when you have a rough week (or month).
Like all your peers have it figured out and are just flying high.
In reality, every single person who’s IN the online biz building game — and stretching themselves in any way — has ups and downs.
These are just a handful of ways I see clients putting a ton of pressure on themselves, and making business way harder than it needs to be.
The silver lining? All this pressure...is self-created.
If you've built the narrative, that means you can also rewrite it.
Take a moment today, choose a myth above that's weighed you down, and write out your own "truths" about it.
Trust me, it's liberating! 🙏
Sending love, light, and clarity your way,
Megan
