I Wish I'd Given Up This Habit Sooner

One of the sneakiest habits that used to suck the joy out of my days?

Rushing.

It’s so normalized in our culture that it took me decades to even realize that stopping was an option.

There’s the obvious rushing — like running late and scrambling out the door.

But there’s also the everyday kind that shows up like “I’m gonna run to the restroom real quick!” or “Just grabbing a quick bite to eat!”

Anytime the word “quick” sneaks in, it’s often tied to that feeling of needing to move faster. And honestly? That feeling can hijack your entire day.

Recently, I helped a client shift out of her rushed morning routine with her kids (and the stress that came with it).

Together, we reimagined her mornings by:

Tweaking her timeline to allow for more spaciousness
Removing unnecessary tasks to streamline her to-do's
Creating a plan for how to handle inevitable “running late” moments

The biggest mindset shift came from that last step, where she committed to releasing the feeling of rushing, even when she runs behind.

Here’s what I’ve learned the hard way, and what I shared with her:

Feeling rushed doesn’t help you.

It just scatters your focus, ramps up your stress, and leaves you in a hot mess state where you're more likely to stub toes, snap at loved ones, or forget something important.

But when you release the rush?

You make peace with what is — and maintain your peace of mind as a result.

Want to start small?

Try slowing down while you drink a glass of water, use the restroom, brush your teeth, or enjoy a meal.

Notice how your body and mind settle when you take your time.

If you're anything like me, your only regret will be not dropping this habit sooner!

To feeling more ease and joy in your days,

Megan

P.S. If you’re feeling a rushed sense of pressure to move your business forward, it’s likely adding heaps of stress and holding you back from doing your most powerful work in the world.

I’d love to support you in building momentum from a place of ease, clarity, and relaxed focus.
