Today I want to talk about the "in between" stage of life or business.
If you're like most people, this stage is not your brain's favorite.
It's full of unknowns, questions, and often some self-doubt and frustration too.
The pressure to get clarity and fast forward through this transitional phase can be real.
So below I'm sharing the top 5 things that have helped me and my clients navigate the spaces in between with as much ease, peace of mind, and confidence as possible.
Let's dive in!
#1: Share with intention (and cocoon if needed)
Your transformational process is sacred. It’s okay to keep your cards a little closer to your chest when you’re in the midst of these changes, or even go into cocoon mode where you self-isolate a bit more than usual.
Essentially, when you have new ideas or identities forming, they can feel very tender and precious, like a bud that hasn't quite blossomed, and you want to be aware of who you let in.
A good rule of thumb is choosing to share with people who have historically shown up for you in non-judgmental and unconditionally supportive ways.
But even with the people you love and trust the most...
#2: Be mindful of other people's opinions
It's okay to seek advice, but remember, the best compass is your intuition combined with guidance from those who have been where you want to go and gotten there in ways that resonate with you.
You can tell loved ones upfront if you're just looking for them to listen vs. give you advice. Most people naturally go into advice-giving or problem-solving mode in an attempt to help, but if you communicate what you're looking for in a kind way, they'll be happy to change gears and simply hear you out.
#3: Get inspired
One of the best things you can do for yourself during transitional phases is find people, places, and ideas that open up your mind and get your wheels turning in new directions. In-between times are perfect for discovering new authors, mentors, podcasters, musicians, artists, etc. that speak to you.
Consider this your cue to switch things up, explore some new interests, and pay attention to what's sparked within you as a result.
That said, it's still important that you...
#4: Create space for quiet self-reflection
As tempting as it can be to lose yourself in a new self-help book or podcast, remember to allow quiet time for your own mind to reflect and present you with new insights.
Going for phone-free walks or taking time to journal are simple ways to create space for exploring your own thoughts and accessing your intuition.
#5: Remember that this is temporary and an important part of your journey
As much as you may be over the in-between stage and ready for what's next, the truth is that this phase exists for a reason.
You're in the process of becoming the next version of yourself, and how you move through this phase is directly influencing that evolution. It is that evolution.
So be as gentle, kind, and patient with yourself as possible.
If you follow the steps above to move through this time with intention, your arrival at the next phase will be extra rewarding, fulfilling, and anchored in as a result.
You got this,
Megan
