One of the best skills you can learn as a business owner is how to tell the difference between feedback that's challenging you in a good way — and guidance that simply isn't landing for you.
Today I'm sharing an easy way to discern between the two.
First, think of some feedback or coaching you’ve received recently that doesn't quite resonate, or you have some resistance around...
Then ask yourself:
Is this guidance stretching me outside of my comfort zone?
Or is it simply not landing as true for me?
Without overthinking it, which one feels the most accurate? Go with your first instinct.
If you feel like you're being stretched or challenged in a good way, lean back into the coaching or feedback you received.
Remember: your coach (or any expert you hire) is there to point out your blind spots, support your growth, and catch things you're accustomed to missing on your own.
Get curious and be willing to look at things beyond your normal perspective.
On the other hand, if the coaching or feedback simply isn't in alignment...let that sh*t go!
There is no need to pretzel yourself into seeing things differently if zero percent of what's been suggested resonates with you in the slightest.
Remember: the coaches and specialists you hire support you based on...
What they know in their area of expertise, and
What they know about you/your business (from what you've shared with them)
At the end of the day, you know the ins and outs of your business better than anyone else.
So take what resonates...and leave the rest :)
